Having spent almost a year in a deep writing funk, I can and do truly stand by the use of writing prompts. There are of course other ways to kick start your imagination but when i've have been lost in writers block for several months I personally found the use of the old fashioned writers prompt to be more than just useful in getting me writing again, they have sparked by next novel idea.
